Carlos Alcaraz shares a very close bond with his current coach and former Spanish player Juan Carlos Ferrero – he recently stated that he would refuse Roger Federer’s coaching proposal.

Carlos Alcaraz has made it clear that he shares a very special bond with Juan Carlos Ferrero and he wouldn’t exchange him for anyone. Alcaraz has worked with Ferrero since 2019, when he was just a 16-year-old. Till date, the Alcaraz-Ferrero partnership has produced six tournament wins on the ATP Tour, including a major title at the 2022 US Open and two Masters 1000 titles at Miami and Madrid.

When asked in an interview what he would do if Roger Federer himself proposes to be his coach, Alcaraz stated: “I admire Federer, but if he proposes to become my coach, I would refuse. Juan Carlos is like a father to me and I would not change him with anybody.” Alcaraz’s loyalty towards his coach is indeed admirable. The duo will be back in action on the ATP tour this week, after a gap of almost three months. The Spaniard is set to begin his campaign at the Argentina Open on February 15 – his first tournament since the Paris Masters in November last year. Alcaraz is currently training in Argentina and gearing up to make a strong comeback on the circuit.
