Judy Murray called upon concerned authorities to take appropriate action against the person involved
Scottish tennis coach and mother of Andy Murray, Judy Murray took to Twitter to express her disgust and anger over the video of a coach brutally assaulting a tennis player on the court. In the video, a father (coach) can be seen mercilessly beating her daughter on a tennis court for not following his instructions. The video went viral on social media after social activist Igor Juric posted it on his own Instagram handle.
Juric, whose own daughter Tijana was murdered in 2014, recently posted a disturbing video on his official Instagram account of a father mercilessly beating up his daughter on a tennis court. Juric revealed that the father-daughter duo arrived from China. He also said that he will file criminal charges against the father.
Reacting to the video, Judy Murray wrote on Twitter: “Horrific example of parental physical abuse in junior tennis. Over to you to deal with this through whichever governing body he falls under.” She called upon the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to take appropriate action.
The video is absolutely shocking and horrific and fans couldn’t believe that something like this could happen. Let us take a look at some of the reactions.
“This is just awful – I am trying to understand why the people filming did not say something earlier. I hope this young woman has received support”, wrote a user.
“We have seen many pro players. Sharapova included that have very estranged relationships with their father/coach. I believe this happens more than we think when the child is the families way out of poverty. Or they think”, another user pointed out.
“Personally I don’t think the video should be shown or shared online. I know people are trying to raise an issue but it’s completely degrading and horrific for the young girl”, read another tweet.
“OMG, fancy doing that to your kid, regardless of what they’ve done or any other circumstances, that’s disgusting”, another user echoed similar sentiments.
“Why didn’t the person taking video call the cops? Do you know where it is from? I am just waking up. I want to report to police”, tweeted another user.
