Desirae Krawczyk and Neal Skupski defeated Ebden and Stosur to clinch the Mixed Doubles title at Wimbledon 2022
The first silverware of this year’s Wimbledon was handed out on Thursday night – Britain’s Neal Skupski and American Desirae Krawczyk winning the mixed doubles title with a 6-4, 6-3 win over the Australian pairing of Matt Ebden and Sam Stosur. It was the first time that the mixed doubles final has been played on a Thursday evening, moved from its usual slot after the men’s singles final on Sunday.
Skupski and Krawczyk entered the mixed doubles draw as defending champions and are now back-to-back winners of the title. As a result of their victory, the pair have bagged a massive prize money of US$ 131,000.
Despite being defending champions, Krawczyk and Skupski were a last-minute pairing at The Championships, as both players were originally set to play with different partners. But the reunion proved fruitful once again, as the duo became the first team to win back-to-back Wimbledon titles since Helena Sukova and Cyril Suk won in 1996 and 1997.
