Alejandro Davidovich Fokina received a walkover mid-way through his first-round match at the Open Sud de France
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has won over the hearts of tennis fans with a very caring gesture during his match against Ugo Humbert in Montpellier. Frenchman Humbert suffered a nasty fall during the encounter when Fokina was seen rushing towards his good friend, looking quite concerned about his welfare. Humbert had to eventually withdraw mid-way through this match with an injury, handing over a victory to the Spaniard.
A footage clip of the incident has gone viral on social media and fans absolutely love Fokina’s sporting gesture. Speaking of the incident after the match, Fokina said: “I’ve known him since we were kids and I know him very well. It’s never easy to see a friend like this. He just flew on the court, and I was like, ‘Something happened’, because he was crying and it was tough.” With this win, Fokina is through to the next round and is scheduled to take on another Frenchman Quentin Halys.
