Saville sounded dejected and disappointed in her statement on social media. “Thanks to everyone who has messaged me, it means the world. On the other hand, I’m sh*tlisting some of my colleagues who literally saw me today on crutches in Tokyo and didn’t say a word. It cannot be hard to be a nice person”, she wrote. The Australian further added, “Just makes sad and makes me not wanna go through it all again to make a comeback on the tour and spend most of the time and seeing these people.”

Naomi Osaka was visibly worried after Daria Saville suffered the injury on court

Naomi Osaka revealed post match that she was scared when Daria Saville started screaming in pain because players have a really strong tolerance for pain and play through them. The Japanese star initially thought that the Australian was disappointed with her error and later realized the gravity of the situation.

However, the Brazilian has also been awarded a walkover due to injury and Osaka will now be directly seen in action in the Quarter-finals. Although Osaka is unseeded, the former world no.1 is expected to go all the way and clinch the title on her home turf in Tokyo.
