He was awarded a wildcard to the 2019 Wimbledon Championships men’s doubles tournament and the singles qualification. However, he lost in the first round to Japanese Yasutaka Uchiyama.

Meanwhile, the Battle of Brits is an all-British event, hosted by Jamie Murray, the elder brother of former World No.1 Andy Murray.

The event will take place behind closed doors at the National Tennis Centre from June 23-28. It runs with two round-robin groups before a knockout semi-final and final.

Murray’s return to competitive tennis

The Battle of the Brits will also witness the return of Andy Murray to competitive tennis and will see him take on Kyle Edmund in the group stage. Murray joins Edmund, James Ward, and Liam Broady in the Tim Henman Group.

Murray was hoping to have been back on tour in April. However, he faced a major setback as the tennis calendar got wiped out due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Doubles specialist Jamie is paired with Davis Cup team-mate Neal Skupski. He will face Evans and Lloyd Glasspool, and Liam Broady and Norrie in the Paul Hutchins doubles group.

In the other doubles group named Cathie Sabin, Edmund and Draper go head-to-head with Dom Inglot and Clarke, and Joe Salisbury and Jonny O’Mara.
