“Not the easiest to control initially even in the humid conditions…” – John Millman gives his reaction after playing with Australian Open 2023 tennis balls

Australian veteran tennis player John Millman played his last match of the season at a Challenger event in Kobe, Japan – he recently tested the 2023 Australian Open balls.

John Millman is currently at home enjoying the off-season. He is also keeping a close eye on the ongoing FIFA World Cup. He also congratulated the Australian men’s football team for their campaign at the biggest event in football via a tweet.

The 33-year-old is also getting himself ready for the new season. Millman recently shared his experience after playing with new Dunlop tennis balls that will be used in the upcoming Australian Open. The first Grand Slam of 2023 will commence on 16 January. Millman’s insight is certainly going to help players who are preparing for the big event Down Under.

The world No. 148 noted that the new Dunlop balls are light and quick, especially when new. He also felt that the balls are difficult to control in humid conditions. Millman also named a few players who could have an edge over others and they are – Nick Kyrgios, Hubert Hurkacz, and Taylor Fritz.

“Having hit with the AO 2023 Dunlop balls the last week my general observation is they are light and quick, especially when new. Not the easiest to control initially even in the humid conditions where I am in Brisbane. NK, Hurkacz, Fritz all very dangerous this AO,” wrote Millman in his tweet.

An Australian tennis coach, Arie Shatar asked Millman to rate the balls in comparison to the ones used at the US Open. Millman said that the AO23 balls are a little lighter.

World No. 9 Taylor Fritz also dropped a question. He asked if the new Dunlop balls are meant to be different from the usual ones. To this, Millman gave a one-word answer: “Yep”.
