Andrey Rublev has progressed to the semi-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships – check out his cheeky response to a reporter.
Andrey Rublev has won over the internet after politely suggesting a reporter not ask him the same question. Rublev has progressed to the semi-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships after registering a comprehensive 6-3, 7-6 win over Botic van de Zandschulp. However, more than his performance on the court, it’s his post-match interaction that has been the topic of discussion on social media.
After sealing an impressive win, Rublev was asked by a reporter if he was nervous about defending his title in Dubai. The Russian came up with a cheeky response: “I don’t know. You ask me this question after the first round and now you ask me this again.” While it might sound like a rude reply, in reality it was not. All the while, Rublev had a sweet smile on his face and this cute gesture has won over the hearts of the fans. Meanwhile, Rublev is set to face Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals later today.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on social media.
“I’m ready for Rublev to tell me my life problems in a charming manner. This is the feedback communication I need in my life”, wrote a fan.
“Rooting for him to win against Zverev so that she has the opportunity to ask him this again”, joked another fan.
“Tennis journalists are like scraping the bottom of the journalist barrel”, read a comment.
“Do you need to fail some sort of iq test to be in tennis journalism?”, trolled another fan.
Another fan wrote: “Journalist with few tools.”
