The legendary British player expressed his acknowledgement for Lionel Messi after the Argentine led his nation to a hard-fought win against Australia in the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup.
The South American nation defeated the gritty Australian team by a 2-1 margin with Messi scoring the first goal of the encounter. Argentina will lock horns with the Netherlands in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Messi scored his third goal at this year’s World Cup in his 1000th career game. This is also the first goal at the knockout stage of a world cup for the 35-year-old. The Twitter world erupted in joy as the superstar reached the quarterfinals of the world cup once again after 2014. Murray took to Twitter and wrote:
