Casper Ruud recently suffered a disappointing second-round exit from the Australian – the world no.3 was recently open to a rule change

ATP World No.3 Casper Ruud believes that a rule tweak could make the sport more interesting. The Norwegian tennis star recently hosted an interactive Q&A session on Twitter, where he answered selective questions from fans. Ruud is currently on a break after his early elimination from the Australian Open on Twitter.

Ruud hosted the interactive session on Twitter: “What are some things that tennis fans would like to see/hear/know more about in their favorite players life(s)? Comment below. Interesting to know.” Among the many questions that poured in, one fan asked: “Do you think the game be better if only one serve were allowed? You could still hit the big one, but who wants to see service winners and aces. That was never the intention of the game. Rafa would have 30 grand slam trophies if the rules would have been changed to one serve.”

In response, Ruud wrote: “Good question! I think it would be cool and interesting to see a professional tournament where this rule was changed just to see how it would affect players and how the game is played. Less aces and more rallies probably.”

Fans react to Casper Ruud’s idea of allowing only one serve in Tennis

Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on social media.

“Please don’t do that ! I miss the Sampras – Becker era on faster courts with faster balls. Yes, rallies were shorter, and there were lots of aces. But aces are some kind of a beauty, intensity was higher and attacking was rewarded. I prefer 100m to marathon”, wrote a fan.

“Federer would still be the best. His serve is underrated”, tweeted a die-hard Federer fan.

“Should be used in the Laver Cup as a test, and then maybe ATP Finals”, suggested another fan.

“Murray v Kokkinakis would still be going”, joked another fan.

Another fan trolled: “looks like Garcia’s biggest nightmare.”
