Top tennis bodies including ATP and players like Casper Ruud have united to raise funds for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria
The tennis fraternity has joined hands and announced a new initiative to support those impacted by the earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria. The ATP has officially announced the launch of ‘Tennis Plays for Love’ – a fundraising campaign to support the victims of the devastating earthquake. An NFT tennis art project, which will be auctioned off in support of the campaign has also been put in place.
The ATP announced on Twitter: “Tennis Plays for Love. We have launched a fundraising campaign to support those impacted by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, who are in crucial need of aid.” Casper Ruud, who is one of the players contributing for the cause, wrote: “Love that one of my shots is supporting those in need . All proceeds going to Turkey and Syria earthquake relief.”
The campaign will kick off with a joint donation by the tennis governing bodies that benefits Global Giving’s Turkey and Syria Earthquake Relief Fund, helping provide emergency relief and fuel long-term recovery efforts.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on social media.
“Thank you for your support. Love from Türkiye. We will never forget it”, wrote an over-whelmed fan.
“Great opportunity to take home a beautiful output from LOVE and donate to those affected by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. The proceeds of the @atptour’s auction (including @martingrasser’s royalties) will be donated to victim relief”, tweeted another fan.
“Thank you Casper, it means a lot”, read a tweet, echoing similar sentiments.
“Thanks to the tennis community and every single person who has contributed for the start of this campaign”, commented another fan.
Another fan suggested: “Get Nadal and Federer to play a couple of exhibition matches. That will raise the most money!”
