Jessica Pegula is set to face the challenge of 8th seed Ons Jabeur in the final of the Madrid Open WTA 1000 event
Jessica Pegula entered the tournament as the 12th seed and has certainly lived up to expectations so far. She began her campaign with an intense three-set win against Camila Giorgi but her journey has been relatively comfortable since then, having won all her next matches in straight sets.
Pegula defeated Kaia Kanepi in the Round of 32 and followed it up with wins against Bianca Andreescu and Sorribes Tomo to set up a semi-final clash against Jil Teichman, which she comfortably won 6-3, 6-4 to make it to the summit clash.
Ons Jabeur is into the maiden WTA 1000 final of her career on the back of some sublime performances during the course of the tournament. In her first two rounds, Jabeur comprehensively defeated Jasmine Paolini and Varvara Gracheva before pulling off an intense win in three-sets against 11th seed Belinda Bencic.
The Swiss star defeated former World No. 1 Simona Halep 6-3, 6-2 in the Quarter-finals and followed it up with another convincing straight-sets win against Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semi-finals to set up a final clash against Jessica Pegula.

Jessica Pegula and Ons Jabeur have met each other four times before on the WTA tour. Both players are inseperable as it stands and are tied 2-2 on head to head. Jabeur won their latest encounter in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 earlier this year in Dubai.
On paper, it’s a very difficult match to call both in terms of head to head and rankings. We are predicting an intense clash with Jabeur eventually pulling off a thrilling win in three sets.
