Czech tennis star Marketa Vondrousova has scripted history by reaching the ladies’ singles final of Wimbledon 2023. She has become the second-lowest ranked player to reach the ladies’ singles final at #Wimbledon since the WTA Rankings were introduced.

Vondrousova was ranked World no.42 when she entered this tournament and is now one step away from clinching this prestigious crown. Vondrousova registered a memorable victory in straight sets against Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina and is now set to face No.6 seed Ons Jabeur in the final on July 15.

Vondroušová is known for her versatile playing style, characterized by her powerful groundstrokes, effective shot placement, and excellent court coverage. She has a strong defensive game and is capable of hitting winners from both wings.

Her ability to adapt to different playing surfaces has made her a competitive player on all court types. Before this incredible Wimbledon campaign, she has had other notable achievements in her career. She reached the quarterfinals of the 2020 US Open and the 2021 Australian Open. She has also won multiple titles on the ITF Circuit and has represented the Czech Republic in Fed Cup competitions.

It was a highly anticipated match between two former champions. Despite putting up a strong fight, Serena was defeated by Kerber in straight sets, with a score of 6-3, 6-3. Kerber’s consistent play and powerful groundstrokes proved to be the difference in the match.
