Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has been diagnosed with throat and breast cancer. She has an enlarged lymph node in her neck and tests reveal that she is suffering from two forms of cancer. This comes as a shocking piece of news for the tennis fraternity and Navratilova’s huge fan base across the globe.
Navratilova is known to have a strong personality and she intends to fight the disease with “all that she has”. In her official statement, Navratilova said: “This double whammy is serious but still fixable. I’m hoping for a favourable outcome. It’s going to stink for a while but I’ll fight with all I have got.” Another all-time great of women’s tennis, Billie Jean King expressed her support for Navratilova in these tough times. “@Martina is as brave as she is strong. She has fought this battle before, and she is in our thoughts and prayers”, she wrote on Twitter.
