Naomi Osaka’s hunger to learn impresses Nick Kyrgios

Published by

Nick Kyrgios was spotted at the Beverly Hills Tennis Academy this week with his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi.

Nick Kyrgios won the Australian Open doubles competition recently with Thanasi Kokkinakis. He visited the Los Angeles club to have a session with two-time Australian Open singles champion Naomi Osaka.

Kyrgios uploaded a video on his Instagram account where he was practicing his serves while Naomi Osaka was seated right beside him carefully watching his technique. Naomi was like an eager student of the game studying Kyrgios as he was serving. Later Kyrgios was seen returning some shots as well.

Fans have given a lot of love to this little video that Kyrgios uploaded. Both players are very popular in the tennis world. Could they be pairing for a mixed doubles showing in 2022? Naomi and Kyrgios playing in the same team would certainly be a great sight for the fans.

Kyrgios wrote in the caption of the video:

Quick LA session with @naomiosaka Analysing my serve to find any small details… Her hunger to learn was pretty epic to see from a champ like her

It’s evident that both these champion players share a lot of respect for each other. Naomi Osaka also proved that champions are champions because they always strive to learn more and get better.

Kyrgios withdrew from the inaugural Dallas Open and Delray Beach last month. It isn’t certain where the world number 134 would feature next. Naomi Osaka however received a wild card entry in the Indian Wells and will take on the likes of Emma Raducanu, and defending champion Paula Badosa. She won the event in 2018. Osaka is a former world number one.

Osaka failed to defend her Australian Open title after crashing out in the third round to Amanda Anisimova. Naomi Osaka has slipped to 80 in WTA rankings.

The WTA 1000 event runs from March 7-20. Osaka took a break in 2021 owing to her struggles with mental health. She has a chance to climb back up in the rankings and she looks to be geared up for the challenge.

Andy Murray and Naomi Osaka headline the list of wildcards. Meanwhile World number one Ashleigh Barty has withdrawn from Indian Wells and Miami Open. She is aiming for a return in April.
