Nick Kyrgios will not take part further at the Mallorca Open. The Australian who was into the Round of 16, has withdrawn from the tournament due to an abdominal injury.

After going a set down against Laslo Djere in the Round of 32 match, Kyrgios won the next two sets narrowly – 7-6, 7-6 to advance to the next round.

He was set to face Roberto Bautista Agut who was coming off a victory against Taro Daniel of Japan.

With the Wimbledon fast approaching, Kyrgios will be going into the tournament with a 7-2 record on grass in the year 2022.

Many experts do believe that the Australian might be a problem at the biggest Grand Slam in Tennis.

“I don’t want to risk Wimbledon next week” – Nick Kyrgios

A large part of Nick Kyrgios’ decision to withdraw from the Mallorca Open has been due to the fact that the Australian doesn’t want to risk Wimbledon starting in a few days’ time.

About his withdrawal, Kyrgios said:

“I woke up with a pain in my abs. I went to see the tournament doctor right away and he advised that I don’t play tonight. I really value the Mallorca Championships but I will follow his advice as I don’t want to risk Wimbledon next week.”

Fans of Kyrgios will be waiting with their fingers crossed to see the man dubbed as a potential favourite (at Wimbledon), in action soon.
