While many stars such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Matteo Berrettini, David Goffin, Benoit Paire, and others have confirmed their participation, Kyrgios clearly seemed to be disinterested.

Kyrgios expressed his feelings via a tweet on his official page by posting, “Bruh, what is this”. The Australian had shared his views on tennis resuming amidst the coronavirus and the riots taking place in the United States.

He believed that tennis should return only after all these challenges are overcome and many people had agreed with him on this topic.

“Looks a little different”

Kyrgios stressed that he was even in general against anything being played at the moment.

“Looks a little different. I’m just not on board with new tennis events and sport going on in general with everything that’s going on at the moment,” Kyrgios tweeted.

However, the UTS did not let go of his tweet and replied to him. They were of the opinion that it makes sense for Kyrgios to express his views and that they respected his decision.

They added that the event could be conducted in the coming years and even offered him an invitation to take part in it if he wanted to. The UTS unlike normal tennis seeks to attract a younger audience and has some radical changes in it.

Sets are now known as quarters. Games have changed too, and it will be interesting to see if this catches on.

The US has tried radical changes in football in the past with the MLS. However, their penalty shootout didn’t work out all that well.
