Nick Kyrgios has been involved in many controversies throughout the course of his career. He had his best Grand Slam performance at this year’s Wimbledon, where he made it to the final.
Kyrgios played some enthralling tennis to reach a Grand Slam semifinal for the first time in his career. He was set to face Rafael Nadal in the semifinal but the Spaniard suffered a 7 mm abdominal tear which forced him to pull out of the tournament.
The Australian tennis pro, progressed to the final to challenge former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic. Kyrgios won the first set but the Serbian legend brought his A-game in the following three sets to win his fourth Wimbledon title in a row and seventh overall at the grass-court major.
Kyrgios has the tendency of getting into arguments with the officials, players, and even the spectators during his matches. During the Wimbledon final, he was constantly involved in a war of words with a female tennis fan.
The 27-year-old likes to ditch the ordinary and bring a sort of game that only he can pull off. Playing some mind games and causing opponents to lose focus is a unique ploy that Kyrgios uses. We have seen many times in cricket, how the Aussies try and rattle their opponents with some stern words. Kyrgios uses a similar strategy in tennis.
Now the charismatic player is set to earn millions as he is all set to star in a Netflix documentary. The Netflix crew has recorded his antics at the All England Tennis Club.
A source told the Daily Mail: “Sports documentaries are working well for Netflix. They get huge viewing figures across the world. Nick is fascinating to watch both on and off the tennis court. His antics at Wimbledon made him a household name.
“This film will feature footage, which could be explosive – and compulsive viewing. Wimbledon was a very colourful time for him.
“It is also expected to feature interviews with Nick and other members of his team.”
So we are set to get a much more detailed look into Nick Kyrgios’ journey at this year’s Wimbledon competition.
