Nick Kyrgios will be one of the lead characters in Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Break Point’
Netflix is set to release a new series on Tennis named ‘Break Point’ and Nick Kyrgios will be one of the lead characters in the docuseries. The trailer has already been released and the full series will be launched on January 13 in 2023. Besides Nick Kyrgios, Iga Swiatek, Sloane Stephens, Frances Tiafoe, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas also featured in the trailer.
The makers of this series are also producers of popular F1-based Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’. After the trailing featuring Kyrgios was released, the Australian went on a rant on Twitter, dissing out at his critics. “Haha so after all this, all the media, journalism saying how bad I am for the sport, disrespecting the game & just a pure villain, I am going to be the number 1 episode on Netflix… to grow our fan base, basically trying to put tennis on the map again”, he wrote. Kyrgios further made a fresh tweet adding: “And essentially putting more money in everyone’s pockets that’s involved with tennis, you all look really ridiculous now. Your apology should be as loud as your disrespect was.”
Fans react to Nick Kyrgios’ rant on Twitter
Let us take a look how fans on Twitter reacted to Kyrgios’ rant.
“What about those of us who support you and spent our hard earned buying expensive tickets to see you here at home and then you make up some weak sauce excuse not to play after chasing $ in a Mickey Mouse tournament in the Middle East?”, trolled a fan.
“If only your “antics” seemed legitimate and not pre-planned. Also, episode 1 isn’t that big of a deal, always lead with the circus episode”, wrote another fan.
“Bro, you really should respect the honor of an athlete with “class”. You are an amazing talent & nobody disputes that fact. But, if you’d like a picture of how important you are to the game, then just immerse your hand in a bucket of water, then pull it out & watch what happens”, read a tweet.
“If only all displays of disrespect came with apologies. You’d need the word ‘sorry’ tattooed on your forehead”, tweeted another fan.
Another fan wrote: “Disagree. Love your tennis but some people just don’t appreciate your antics on court. Myself included. Different strokes for different folks.”
