Novak Djokovic defeated Tallon Griekspoor 6-2, 6-3 in the second round of the Dubai Tennis Championships, they also played out a staggering 14 deuce points.

Novak Djokovic has reached the quarter-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships after registering a comprehensive win in straight sets against Tallon Griekspoor. Although the 6-2, 6-3 scoreline may suggest a one-sided victory for the Serbian, it was anything but so. Both players fought valiantly and at one point in the second set, they played out 14 deuce points. However, Djokovic had the nerves and the skills to eventually bag the win.

Griekspoor himself is in good form and entered the match with a 12-3 record. He did put up a good display against the World No.1 but never looked like sealing a victory. However, his efforts didn’t go unnoticed, and he was appreciated by fans on social media, especially the way he didn’t let Djokovic take home the point during a marathon game in the second set which saw both players stuck on deuce for quite some time.

It is important to note that a record 37 deuce points were played during the match between Glass and Fawcett at the 1975 Surrey Championships.

“So they played 28 points basically for nothing”, joked another fan.
