Novak Djokovic brought up how much he enjoys playing for Serbia after a Davis Cup win

World No.1 Novak Djokovic helped his nation Serbia overcome Austria after he defeated Dennis Novak 6-3, 6-2 on Friday at the Davis Cup Finals.

Djokovic was at his finest throughout the match and did not have any difficulty in the entire match as he cruised past Dennis. The 20-time Grand Slam has now recorded 35 Davis Cup singles wins.

Novak Djokovic celebrates after winning his US Open 2021 first round clash
Djokovic won three Grand Slams this year

“It feels great to play for Serbia again. We are part of an individual sport, but I love to play for my country and I try to play when they need me. It has been a long year, but you always find extra motivation playing for your country.”

Record Breaker Novak Djokovic

Earlier, this week Djokovic broke yet another record. The Serbian, who ended the 2021 season with three Grand Slams that included Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon earned a record seventh year-end No. 1 finish, as he broke the record from legendary Pete Sampras.

Djokovic had a brilliant opportunity to win all four Grand Slams this year but was beaten in the US Open finals in straight sets by Daniil Medvedev.

Meanwhile, Djoker’s participation in next year’s Australian Open is still in doubt as he has still not revealed whether he has taken the COVID-19 jab or not.

Australian Open organisers have already confirmed that vaccination is a must for all the players who are competing at the season’s opening Grand Slam event.

Djokovic participation at Aus Open is in doubt

The World No.1, who is tied on the same number of Grand Slams with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal at 20 is the favourite to win at Melbourne Park. He has already won the Aus Open nine times and it was seen as a perfect stage for him to take the lead.
