Novak Djokovic acknowledged the fans for the successful completion of the first leg of the Adria Tour
Novak Djokovic expressed his gratitude after the successful completion of the Adria Tour’s first leg in Belgrade.
The Adria Tour kick-started in the Serbian capital of Belgrade on June 13 and is organised by Djokovic. The tournament will have multiple legs all across the Balkans.
The first leg in Belgrade ended on Sunday. The Serbian star did not forget to acknowledge the fans for making it a success. Djokovic shared a clip of Adria Tour thanking everyone in Belgrade with a post on his Instagram.
The 33-year-old’s post read:
“3 days, 9 tennis players, 13 matches, 10 thousand visitors and millions of viewers worldwide. 🌍 What an amazing finale to a great weekend! 🎉 We have shown that the love for tennis lives in us and connects us all! 🎾 Thank you Belgrade! Next stop – Zadar! 📍 #AdriaTour”.

Dominic Thiem emerged the ultimate winner of the first leg. The Austrian overcame local lad Filip Krajinovic 4-3 (7-2), 2-4, 4-2 in the final to clinch the title.
Djokovic breaks down in tears
An emotional Djokovic broke down in tears while hosting the charity Adria Tour event on Sunday.
The event brought back a flood of memories for the 17-time Grand Slam champion. He couldn’t help but let out his emotions completely.
“I was very emotional on the court today. Childhood memories started flooding back, including those of growing up on these courts and playing here as a young boy,” the 33-year-old said after being cheered on by a 4000-strong capacity crowd.
The second leg of the tour will be held in Croatia’s coastal resort Zadar next weekend. However, the third leg in Montenegro, which was supposed to be held on June 27 and 28, was scrapped on Saturday over coronavirus concerns.
The final leg of the Adria Tour is set to be played in Bosnia’s Banja Luka on July 3 and 4.
