Daniil Medvedev showed off Forbes’ latest cover after the magazine chose him as their cover athlete.

The Russian was offered the rare honour after he finished 12 in the list of ‘most successful’ Russians under the age of 40 conducted by Forbes magazine.

The rankings were assigned on a score based on overall estimated income in the past year combined with perceived ‘popularity’. The popularity meter included aspects such as online mentions and search requests (in Russian), as well as social media following.

Medvedev had earned $10.2 million income and 31 points to sit at 12th. The June edition also carried a story on how a young Medvedev became a tennis star.

“I want to come back on the court as fast as possible”

Medvedev put forward his doubts regarding the upcoming US Open 2020. Though his participation in the tournament still remains unknown, he has confirmed that he craves to get back to the court as soon as possible during an interview with Eurosport earlier this month.

“Just talking about myself, I want to come back on the court as fast as possible and play tournaments.” said Medvedev.

“It’s going to be super strange because all of us played junior tournaments or futures, where you play maybe just with your coach and no-one else there. But it’s different, it’s a small court, it’s somewhere indoors in the middle of nowhere,” the Russian added.

Medvedev had a fantastic run in the second half of 2019 where he reached three Masters finals winning two of them. He also emerged the runner-up in last year’s US Open final. The Russian narrowly lost to Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal.
