Roger Federer gave us plenty of memories during the course of his 24-year historic career and on the last day, he left us all teary-eyed as he teamed up with arch-rival Rafael Nadal for a doubles match in the 2022 Laver Cup.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion had announced that the Laver Cup will be his last professional tournament. He came back on the court for the first time since the 2021 quarterfinal loss against Hubert Hurkacz. Federer teamed with Nadal to take on the team of Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.

The Swiss legend rolled back the years and fans at the O2 Arena experienced something special unfolding in front of their eyes. Nadal and Federer played their hearts out as the other two greats – Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic were cheering them on. The Swiss-Spaniard duo won the first set but Sock and Tiafoe came back strongly to win the momentous match.

A fan clicked a well-timed photo of Nadal and Federer at practice prior to the match as Murray was facing the 22-time Grand Slam champion’s serve. Federer was waiting in anticipation. It’s certainly a picture to behold as the three legends won’t be seen together on the same court with racquets in hand soon, at least at the professional level.
