Rafael Nadal faces Daniil Medvedev in the final of the 2022 Australian Open

Daniil Medvedev had to dig deep a bit as he made it to his second consecutive Grand Slam final. The Russian had won the previous Slam by defeating Novak Djokovic, but faced a tough semi-final clash in Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Australian Open.

Medvedev came through in four sets and now has set a date in the final with Rafael Nadal. The Russian has faced Nadal in the past in a Grand Slam final and will hope things go better for him on Sunday.

As for the Spaniard, Nadal is chasing his own bit of history, The Spanish star is tied with Djokovic and Roger Federer on 20 Grand Slams, and he would want to be the first to reach the 21 mark.

Nadal overcame the seventh seed Matteo Berrettini also in four sets. This was another long match for the Spaniard as he defeated Denis Shapovalov in five sets in the quarter-finals. 

Fans unsure of who wins the 2022 Australian Open final

This is a chance for Nadal to etch his name in history and the same can be said about Medvedev as well.

The Russian aims to be the first man in Open Era history to win a second Grand Slam in the next event right after winning his first one.

No one has been able to do that so far with only Andy Murray coming close. Without Djokovic in the tournament this is a great chance for either star to pick up a Grand Slam. While finals experience is with Nadal, Medvedev comes into the tournament with a ton of form thanks to his win in the previous Slam.
