Rafael Nadal has made history as he proceeds to the Australian Open 2022 final

Spanish tennis superstar Rafael Nadal advanced through to the finals of Australian Open by beating Matteo Berrettini. Nadal started the game off strongly by taking the first two sets, 6-3 and 6-2. However, the Italian came back strongly in the third set and beat the Spaniard by 3-6.

Nadal showed why he is a true legend of the game and beat the Italian in the fourth set to clinch a spot in the finals. By doing so, the Spaniard has joined Roger Federer in an incredible record.

Nadal has now reached a Grand Slam final in a total of 15 seasons in his pro-career. The same has only been achieved by Federer in the history of the sport.

Rafael Nadal will face Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final

Nadal will meet Daniil Medvedev on Sunday, the 30th January in the finals of the Australian Open. Medvedev beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals to book a spot in the final. The Greek gave all he had, however, it wasn’t enough to go past Medvedev.

The Russian took the first set via. a tie-break. Tsitsipas came roaring back by taking the second set. However, Medvedev took the third and steamrolled the Greek in the fourth to take the match.

Medvedev will be challenging for his second Grand Slam title. On the flipside, Nadal will be looking forward to becoming the first player in the history of the sport to win 21 Grand Slams.

It will be interesting to see who gets his hands on the Australian Open trophy on Sunday.
