Rafael Nadal is the current World No.2 and winner of 19 Grand Slam titles

Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal has over the course of his tennis career broken many records en route to becoming one of the greatest in the sport.

He is only second behind Swiss maestro Roger Federer, with 19 Grand Slam titles to his name. Federer, meanwhile, has a record 20 under his belt.

Among his long list of achievements, Nadal, now holds a more distinct one that sets him apart from the rest of the ‘Big Three’ that includes Federer and Serb Novak Djokovic.

The Spaniard created history by holding the record of winning the most points in his career – 54%, which is greater than Federer, Djokovic and former World No.1 Pete Sampras.

Sampras was the undisputed leader with a record 53.27% points earned in his career. However, that was before the arrival of the ‘Big Three’.

‘The Big Three’ soon overthrew Sampras with Federer and Nadal achieving the feat in 2008 and Djokovic after an incredible 2015 season.

Nadal attained his remarkable 54% points feat for the first time back in 2013 after an impressive season that saw him win ten titles including two Grand Slams titles and five ATP Masters 1000 respectively.

Moya a major influence in Nadal’s points rise

Nadal’s points average saw an even more exponential rise since 2016. This was largely due to the influence of his new coach and fellow countryman Carlos Moya.

The former World No.1 joined the southpaw’s team in December 2016. Moya has been one of the main reasons for Nadal’s uninterrupted increase in his points percentage.
