Rafael Nadal is recovering from a foot injury ahead of Wimbledon 2022, which is starting on June 27
Rafael Nadal was seen training with Martin Landaluce at Mallorca Country Club – a positive indication ahead of Wimbledon 2022. Nadal was recently snapped getting out of a car in Barcelona where he could be seen on crutches with a bandage on his left foot. However, now that he is back in training, fans are hopeful that the Spaniard will be fit in time for the Grand Slam.
After winning the Roland Garros, Nadal travelled from Paris to Barcelona to see his doctor, Dr. Angel Ruiz-Cotorro, at the Clínica Mapfre de Medicina del Tenis. He underwent a pulsed radiofrequency treatment, numbing the nerves in the foot temporarily. After the first session of the treatment, he has been seen on crutches and stated that he will return to practice after the procedure turns out to be successful.
The Spaniard had used injections to numb his injured foot, along with anti-inflammatories and painkillers, which enabled him to play through seven matches in Paris, including wins over four top 10 players.
But, Nadal said he would not play Wimbledon in similar circumstances and would only play in London if his treatment enabled him to compete without taking injections through the tournament.
