Rafael Nadal is recovering from a foot injury ahead of Wimbledon 2022, which is starting on June 27
Rafael Nadal was seen training with Martin Landaluce at Mallorca Country Club – a positive indication ahead of Wimbledon 2022. Nadal was recently snapped getting out of a car in Barcelona where he could be seen on crutches with a bandage on his left foot. However, now that he is back in training, fans are hopeful that the Spaniard will be fit in time for the Grand Slam.
After winning the Roland Garros, Nadal travelled from Paris to Barcelona to see his doctor, Dr. Angel Ruiz-Cotorro, at the Clínica Mapfre de Medicina del Tenis. He underwent a pulsed radiofrequency treatment, numbing the nerves in the foot temporarily. After the first session of the treatment, he has been seen on crutches and stated that he will return to practice after the procedure turns out to be successful.
The Spaniard had used injections to numb his injured foot, along with anti-inflammatories and painkillers, which enabled him to play through seven matches in Paris, including wins over four top 10 players.
But, Nadal said he would not play Wimbledon in similar circumstances and would only play in London if his treatment enabled him to compete without taking injections through the tournament.
The speculations regarding Nadal’s participation in Wimbledon continue on social media. Fans are relieved and happy to see their idol back in action, while they continue to wait patiently for a confirmation.
“From the beginning they said he’ll train this week to see about the pain sensations and decide if he’ll play Wimbledon. Depending on how things developed they’ll make decision if another ablation treatment is necessary or not. There may be other things he/ they want to inform us”, tweeted a fan who feels that things are going in the positive direction.
“I love rafa more than anything but they should just come and tell us what’s is happening ..otherwise they great alot of speculation”, wrote another fan, who is tired of all the speculations.
“I will wait patiently for Friday and it feels so right”, tweeted another fan, echoing similar sentiments.
