The legendary Rafael Nadal most recently played in the Paris Masters. The rub of the green didn’t go his way as he crashed out following a loss in his first match against America’s Tommy Paul.
Nadal, who recently became a father for the first time, reached Turin a few days ago and has trained for his upcoming challenge – the ATP Finals. The tournament that starts on November 13 will see some of the best performers of this season in action. The 36-year-old has trained for the event and has been seen in a jovial mood during his sessions.
Recently a video surfaced on the internet where Nadal was seen practicing with Felix Auger-Aliassime. The veteran’s serve bounced off the net and almost took out the young Canadian. Auger-Aliassime’s quick reflexes saved him from being hit on the head. Nadal hilariously commented after the incident: “Almost one less rival.” He followed it up with his signature smile and fans enjoyed the humor from the King of Clay.
Who will Rafael Nadal face in his first match at the ATP Finals?
The 14-time French Open champion will begin his ATP Finals campaign against Taylor Fritz. Nadal enters the tournament as the top seed while Fritz is 8th.
World No. 2 Nadal has been struggling with injuries as of late. His year started on a great note with the veteran adding another Australian Open title and another French Open title to his trophy cabinet.
He has lost his last couple of matches against two American players, Frances Tiafoe and Tommy Paul. Nadal will be hoping to finish the year strongly with a good run in Turin. He is seeking his first title at the season-ending event.
