The two Spaniards, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, played some fantastic tennis throughout the year and are currently enjoying the off-season.
Rafael Nadal’s last tournament on the tour was the ATP Finals. He couldn’t progress beyond the group stages after losing to Taylor Fritz and Felix Auger-Aliassime. A win in his last match at the season-ending tournament against Casper Ruud only serves as a consolation. However, the southpaw can be proud of his performances throughout the season. He won two Grand Slam titles and could have showcased his brilliance in many more events but injuries halted his performances.
Carlos Alcaraz’s season was like a dream. He won five titles on the tour and that includes his first Grand Slam title at the US Open. The 19-year-old also reached the top of the ATP rankings after bagging the title in Flushing Meadows. Alcaraz played his last match of the season at the Paris Masters. He retired during his quarter-final clash against Holger Rune owing to an abdominal injury. This injury kept him out of the ATP Finals but he managed to hold onto the No. 1 ranking and finished the season as the year-end world No. 1.
Many fans have hailed Alcaraz as the player capable of filling the big boots of Nadal in years to come. They will be treated to a one-off contest between the two players in Las Vegas.
Where and When will the match between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz take place?
Rafael Nadal took to Twitter and revealed the date and venue of the match which will surely grab a lot of eyeballs.
