The Rafa Nadal Academy run by Rafael Nadal is based in Manacor, Spain
World No.2 Rafael Nadal will play host to fellow Spaniard and ATP rival Roberto Bautista Agut at Rafa Nadal Academy in June.
Tennis in Spain seems to have resumed slowly with many players in the country returning to training. However, Barcelona and the surrounding metropolitan area is off-limits.
One among them was World No.12 Bautista Agut, who was seen training at the clay-court in the Silla Tennis Club in Valencia with Carlos Taberner – another Spaniard.
Bautista Agut had earlier planned to travel to the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor following the conclusion of the Miami Masters 1,000. This was to be done in order to prepare for the European clay-court Tour.
However, with the global outbreak of the coronavirus crisis resulting in the suspension of not just the Miami Masters but all of tennis, there has been a change in plans for the Spaniard.
He will now train alongside Rafael Nadal in late June, with Nadal acting as his host.
Despite playing for the Spanish side for so long, it is the first time that Nadal and Bautista Agut are meeting at the academy.
Also, it is the first time they are training together away from all the Davis Cup circuit and concentrations. Despite the coronavirus hitting Spain hard and the implications still going on, Bautista has chosen to train with Nadal.
Bautista’s main aim to go and train at Manacor with the World No.2 is to prepare for the summer tournaments in Spain that is being organised by the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET). The tournament is scheduled to kick start at the Lleida Tennis Club from July 10.
