Rafael Nadal acknowledged that the 6-1, 6-2 win against Soon-woo Kwon was misleading and did not reflect the entire story.
The Spaniard advanced to the semi-finals of Mexico Open had a few points to make after his game.
Though the scoreline suggested a rather comfortable victory for the experienced Nadal, the former World No.1 was of the opinion that it did not reflect the entire story.
“The result was misleading, the game was more difficult than the result says. I have seen good things, he is fast, he has the ability to change directions easily and he does difficult things without complication.
“He has a good future and it is good to have players from Asia who are triumphing in our sport that is global.
Nadal will next meet seventh seed Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov to secure a spot in the finals.
Former World No.1 Nadal also said that the match against a top player like Dimitrov would be difficult.;
He rubbed off any concerns saying he would do whatever it takes to book a berth at the finals:
“It will be a difficult game, he comes with positive feelings; he has won one of the best in the world (Stan Wawrinka) which is in the semi-finals with a good feeling.
“I look forward to a nice game to play and fight, I am prepared to take off what I need and try to reach the final.
“He is very complete, with a good volley and is able to take punches from complicated positions. I will need to play at a high level to have chances of winning, I hope to be trained.”
The Spaniard concluded saying that the next match was between two players who knew each other well and there was no particular strategy in hand for the upcoming duel.
