“Tomorrow night. My last match” – Roger Federer confirms that doubles match with Nadal at Laver Cup will be the final match of his career

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will team up to take on Team World’s Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe

Roger Federer had earlier ruled out the possibility of playing singles at the Laver Cup, owing to his recurring injury. Now, he confirms on social media that he will be partnering Rafael Nadal for the doubles match. The Swiss maestro has undergone several knee surgeries in recent years and it’s the same recurring problem that’s preventing Federer from playing Singles.

Besides confirming that he will only be playing Doubles, Federer had earlier also hinted that he could potentially partner Rafael Nadal for the game. Federer said it would be ‘special’ to play alongside his great friend and rival, Nadal in the final match of his career.

As things stand, Federer’s wish is getting fulfilled and promises to be a spectacle as the Tennis World prepares to bid goodbye to the all-time great.

Rafael Nadal is totally looking forward to teaming up with Roger Federer for their Laver Cup doubles tie against Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe.

“An honor and a real pleasure”, Nadal replied to Federer’s tweet on Twitter. Nadal and Federer will be playing the final match on Day 1 of the Laver Cup.

Besides Federer and Nadal’s doubles encounter against Sock and Tiafoe there are three other interesting matches scheduled for Day 1. The opening match of the Laver Cup will see Europe’s Casper Ruud taking on World’s Jack Sock. It will be followed by two more singles clashes – Tsitsipas against Schwartzman and Andy Murray against Alex de Minaur.
