The US Open 2021 is in full swing right now. The tournament that began on the 24th of August (qualifiers) is nearing the fourth round.
In the men’s singles just one of the three members of the big three is participating – Novak Djokovic.
Top seeds like Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer had pulled out of the US Open 2021 well before it began.

He made it to the semi-finals, setting up a clash against the indomitable Novak Djokovic. However, he had sustained a nasty groin injury, early on in the tournament.
Federer went down to Nole in straight sets and bowed out of the 2020 AO. In the process, he had also picked up a serious injury in his right knee.
As a result, Federer underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee. He vowed to return for the 2020 Grass season, but couldn’t as his rehab suffered a setback, causing him to undergo further arthroscopic procedures.
He finally returned at the 2021 Qatar Open, but looked out of sorts. Federer then skipped the tournaments in between, to get ready for the 2021 French Open.
After having advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2021 French Open, Federer retired from the tourney in order to concentrate on his ultimate Grand Slam – Wimbledon.
King Roger was trashed by Herbert Hurkacz in the quarterfinal in straight sets at 2021 Wimbledon.
Following his loss, Federer once again underwent knee surgery.

Since he underwent yet another knee surgery, Federer announced that he would be withdrawing from the 2021 US Open and the subsequent follow-up tournaments.
However, he revealed that he was not done yet, vowing to come back stronger in 2022.
Federer has won the US Open, an impressive five teams. His first win, came way back in 2004. He went on to win the tournament for the next four years – 5 in a row.
But, his exploits at Flushing Meadows came to an end after the dominance of Novak Djokovic on hard courts.
