Roland Garros’s 2023 poster was recently released – the poster which featured a female gazing at a number of Tennis balls drew a lukewarm reaction
The official poster of the 2023 French Open is now out. It has been designed by young French artist Maxime Verdier. The poster is unique in its own way and is the first one to be drawn entirely in coloured pencil. The poster represents the tournament’s reach and by giving pride of place to the new Court Philippe-Chatrier, bathed in a halo of light under a night sky sprinkled with tennis ball stars.
The poster was revealed by Roland Garros’ official handle on Twitter. The design is open to various interpretations and imaginations of the viewers. “From the young girl dreaming of Roland-Garros from the clay court where she trains with her club, to the tournament player dreaming of holding aloft the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup and the junior competitor fantasising about playing on Court Philippe-Chatrier, everyone can relate to this poster”, says the creator, Maxime Verdier.
Let us take a look at how fans reacted to the official poster of the French Open.
“Stunning! Can’t wait to see the best tennis players in action at the iconic #RolandGarros”, wrote a fan.
“Would be cool if there were 23 stars/balls. Would have double meaning where Nadal and Djokovic compete for 23rd slam and the year is 2023 so that’s neat”, suggested another fan.
“This is a good poster for RG23. Next year’s RG’s poster will have coincide with the next year’s Olympics to place with Olympic Rings”, read a comment.
“I find this very uninspiring. The artwork just isn’t great”, commented a fan with a contrasting opinion.
Another fan wrote: “Funnily enough this is an accurate representation of the distance from outside courts to Chatrier.”
