Novak Djokovic has officially pulled out of the upcoming US Open competition.
The legendary player recently announced on Twitter that he would not take the flight to New York to take part in the final major tennis event in the year.
Ryanair DAC is an Irish ultra low-cost carrier founded in 1984. It is headquartered in Swords, Dublin, Ireland and forms the largest part of the Ryanair Holdings family of airlines and has Ryanair UK, Buzz, Lauda Europe and Malta Air as sister airlines.
A tweet from Sky Sports News was shared regarding Novak Djokovic pulling out of the US Open. Ryanair’s official Twitter account quote retweeted the tweet and hilariously showed their support to the 21-time Grand Slam champion. They wrote:
“join the club Novak; we don’t go to US either”
Fans had signed petitions and put out hashtags on Twitter requesting USTA to allow Djokovic participation in the competition. The three-time US Open champion waited as long as he could but with no good news coming his way, he made the inevitable decision.
Many prominent celebrities have come out to support Novak Djokovic. After Alexander Zverev, Djokovic is another big name who will miss at Flushing Meadows this year. The former World No. 1 will miss his second Grand Slam event of the year.
What’s next for Novak Djokovic?
The fans cannot see Novak Djokovic in action at the US Open. However, the three-time US Open winner will feature in the upcoming Laver Cup competition that begins on 23 September.
Novak Djokovic will team up with some other legends like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray in the Laver Cup. Talented players like Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas are also on the team that is going to represent Europe.
Team World will comprise talented players like Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Diego Schwartzman, Alex De Minaur, John Isner, and Jack Sock.
