Sofia Kenin was on the end of a rare double bagel in the 2020 Italian Open from Victoria Azarenka
Everyone has bad days, including top stars, and Sofia Kenin was on the end of one in the 2020 Italian Open.
The third-seeded American faced off against former World No.1 Victoria Azarenka in the round of 32.
Kenin was the favourite to beat the Belarusian, however, she was on the end of a rare double bagel. The 21-year-old lost both sets 6-0 and exited the tournament in crazy fashion.
A bagel, 6-0, score isn’t a rarity in tennis but two sets having the same score is something special. While such results take place in the early rounds of tournaments, Kenin is one of the best in the world and this performance came as a bit of a shocker.
The American posted on social media regarding the loss and just said that this was one of those days where nothing would go right:
“Some days you can’t do anything and yesterday was one of those days for me”

Azarenka continues to shine
The former World No.1 continued her great form in 2020. She reached the final of the US Open but ended up losing to Naomi Osaka.
Azarenka was winning by a set but couldn’t get the win in the end. Kenin is no flash in the pan as the youngster is the reigning Australian Open champion.
This was also her best performance in a Grand Slam but things didn’t work out for her in the US Open. Kenin exited the competition in the fourth round and it will be interesting to see how she does in the French Open.
Osaka withdrew from the 2020 French Open due to a hamstring injury and that should open the doors for Kenin and several others.
