Novak Djokovic gave his opinion regarding the current situation
Novak Djokovic admitted that he was uncertain if the tennis could resume behind closed doors in the wake of the pandemic coronavirus crisis.
Rafael Nadal had earlier stated that he was willing to play tennis behind closed doors during this time of uncertainty. However, Djokovic, unlike the Spaniard feels otherwise.
“It is not an easy decision for tennis players because what is happening is a bigger thing than our sport. I think we have to wait a few months,” said Djokovic in a joint program of ‘El Transistor’ by Onda Cero and El Partidazo.
Djokovic was speaking to the radio program ‘El Transistor’ in a bid to promote the #NuestraMejorVictoria campaign, which was set up by Nadal and NBA star Paul Gasol, to raise money for the Spanish Red Cross.
Meanwhile, Djokovic is currently healthy and calm and is staying under confinement with his family in their home in Marbella, Spain.
However, he has described the prevailing pandemic coronavirus outbreak situation as a very difficult period. Djokovic, who was joined by Nadal during the radio-interview, meanwhile, had a little fun with his fellow compatriot.
The Serbian interrupted the Spaniard by jokingly saying,
“I’m listening to Rafa, and it’s a pleasure to pay attention to him to go to sleep. Rafa, can you sing a lullaby for me, please?”
To this, a cool and composed Nadal replied, “Now, now I sing to you”. He also added that there was very little left to say as they had talked about it for hours during the week, being part of the tennis council.
Nadal and Djokovic were also working on finding solutions to assist tennis players outside the top 100 and tennis staff affected by the ATP suspension during the interview.
