Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently taking part in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown held in France
Stefanos Tsitsipas took a funny dig at his father after defeating Richard Gasquet at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown on Tuesday.
Tsitsipas faced a tough opponent in another Frenchman, Gasquet, whom he had to beat 5-3 in sudden death to progress further.
Tsitsipas beat Gasquet 17-12, 14-15, 15-12, 13-15, 5-3. The Greek opened the first set and looked evenly matched.
However, he went 6-4 down at one stage that Tsitsipas’s coach, his own father Apostolos, called a time-out and encouraged his son and said, “try to attack more, please.”
The World No.6 eventually went on to win the game via sudden death. The first thing he did was to look at the box, where his father was and screamed in excitement.
He took a shot at his dad after the match by posting a video with the caption:
“My dad sits there screaming goddamn Greek. @ultimate_tennis_showdown”.

The Ultimate Tennis Showdown is conducted by Serena William’s coach Patrick Mouratoglou. The new tournament will be held at the Mouratoglou Academy in the South of France till July 12th.
Tsitsipas joins Berrettini and Popyrin
Tsitsipas joined the likes of Matteo Berrettini and Alexei Popyrin as the only players with unbeaten records at the end of day two of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown.
World No.8 Berrettini defeated David Goffin 13-12, 20-8, 18-9, 11-12 while Popyrin overcame Feliciano Lopez, 13-11, 14-17, 14-13, 15-12 in a hard-fought encounter.
Ultimate Tennis Showdown has brought in some radical changes from the normal tennis that is played. It involves a 10-man field, in which each player will play against the other in a standard round-robin format.
Once it is done, the six players with the most wins qualify for the knockout stage, and should there be a tie in the table then set averages will come into play.
The top two players move immediately into the semi-finals whilst the four below them will face off against one another to move forward.
