Mikaela Shiffrin is a legend in Skiing – a two-time Olympic gold medallist and a five-time World Champion
Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas has congratulated Mikaela Shiffrin on winning a record fifth skiing World Cup title. The legendary American skier has secured the most prestigious title in Alpine skiing for the fifth time in her career. Shiffrin has 11 World Cup wins this season, most by any man or woman and has won the title with seven races still left this season.
Tsitsipas wrote on Twitter: “Congratulations @MikaelaShiffrin on your fifth World Cup overall title! Your incredible dedication, focus, and fearless skiing abilities continue to inspire us all.” Shiffrin herself responded to the tweet and wrote: “Wow, thank you so much @steftsitsipas!!” Shiffrin is a legend in her sport and is just one victory shy of the career World Cup record of 86 held by Swede Ingemar Stenmark, a giant slalom and slalom star of the 1970s and ’80s. Shiffrin’s next race is a super-G Sunday, followed by a giant slalom and slalom, her best events, next weekend.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on social media.
