Top seed Novak Djokovic will take on Canada’s Vasek Pospisil in the Quarter-finals of Tel Aviv Open
Novak Djokovic’s form coming into the match
Novak Djokovic has not played a lot of tennis this season but has managed to produce some brilliant performances. Earlier this year, he won the Italian Open and his 21st Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. Unfortunately, the Serbian has missed multiple top tournaments including the Australian Open and US Open and that has certainly not worked in his favor in terms of rankings.
Djokovic has been seeded no.1 in the Tel Aviv Open and hence, directly received a bye to the Round of 16. In his previous match, Djokovic faced Pablo Andujar and thrashed him 6-0, 6-3 to seal his place in the quarter-finals of the tournament. The Serbian will certainly draw confidence from that win and look to dominate Pospisil in their last eight clashes.
Pospisil has entered the main draw of the Tel Aviv Open as a Lucky Loser. The Canadian won the first round of qualifying in straight sets against Ilya Marchenko but lost to Marius Copil in the last round and therefore couldn’t seal direct qualification. In the first round of the main draw, Pospisil defeated eighth seed Tallon Griekspoor, coming back strong from a set down. Pospisil then defeated Edan Leshem 6-3, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals and set up a clash against Djokovic.
