Roger Federer has announced that he will retire from professional Tennis after this week’s Laver Cup – here is how his children reacted
Roger Federer revealed that three of his four children cried after he announced his retirement from professional tennis. He called his retirement a “bittersweet decision” when he announced it last week via social media and told reporters in London his children took the decision particularly hard. Federer is currently in London, gearing up for the Laver Cup, where he will represent Team Europe.
Speaking on his children’s reaction, Federer said: “They were very emotional. Three out of four cried. They asked if we are not going to Halle, to Wimbledon, to Indian Wells anymore and I said not really but if they want, we can go again.” The Swiss maestro then jokingly revealed that his children always wanted him to retire so that they can go skiing with him. The former World no.1 also hinted towards a probable career in commentary post-retirement.
