Thomas Berdych reveals how Roger Federer should prepare for the final

Roger Federer should be mentally prepared for playing his final match

Roger Federer is arguably the greatest tennis player in the history of the sport. At the age of 40, there is certainly not a lot of mileage left for Federer to continue on for years to come. One of his former rivals, Thomas Berdych is on the same page and believes, the 40-year-old should be mentally ready to step on the court for the last time.

While recently talking about Federer’s injury and his return, Berdych said (h/t Times of India):

“If you are in the middle of your career and you get injured for six months and you do a good preparation basically you know what’s going to happen when you start to play. But I think in this situation he needs to be mentally ready to know that it could be just one match even if he’s done everything possible.”

Berdych certainly feels like even if the Swiss have done everything right in rehab and recovery, it will all come down to how he plays. Federer has achieved everything in the sport and there is nothing left to prove and rather than playing at his 50%, Federer should be ready to hang up the racquet anytime now.
