Novak Djokovic was handed an iPod as prize for winning his first-ever ATP World Tour Title
Novak Djokovic has etched his name amongst the greatest tennis players of all time with some sensational achievements. The 21-time Grand Slam champion has equaled Roger Federer’s record of winning six times at the ATP Finals.
In what has been a turbulent season for Djokovic, he has still added 5 titles to his already-impressive trophy cabinet. The former world No. 1 ended his season with a bang and next year, we will see him in action at the Australian Open, a tournament that he has won on 9 occasions.
Djokovic won the first of his 91 titles on the tour back in 2006. He was just 19 years old back then and defeated Nicolas Massu in the finals of the Dutch Open in Amersfoort in what was a tremendous campaign for the young Serbian. Djokovic did not drop a set in the entire tournament and announced himself on the world stage.
Interestingly, Djokovic was awarded an iPod for winning the title. 16 years later, Djokovic earned $164,691,308 in prize money and is one of the richest tennis players in the world.
Tennis fans on Reddit shared some hilarious reactions as it was pointed out that Novak Djokovic won an iPod after bagging his first ATP World Tour Finals title.
