Casper Ruud suffered a shock loss against Taro Daniel in the second round of the Acapulco Open – fans recently compared him to Tom Holland.
Casper Ruud has apparently spilt the beans about a possible change in the 2024 ATP calendar. During the post-match press conference after his loss to Taro Daniel, Ruud spoke about the possibility of playing at the Los Cabos and Acapulco Open in consecutive weeks, indicating a more robust Mexican swing in the calendar next year. Meanwhile, no.2 seed Ruud bid goodbye to Mexico this year after losing 5-7, 6-2, 6-7 to Japan’s Taro Daniel in the second round of the Acapulco Open.
While speaking at the post-match press conference, Ruud stated: “I feel great support, and it makes me want to come back for sure. I think, also, Los Cabos will be the week before or after Acapulco next year if I’m not mistaken. It could be an option to play both, so let’s see.”
The change in the schedule was not known to the media or fans as the tournament has traditionally taken place as a precursor to the US Open summer swing. However, Ruud’s statement makes it evident that there will be a major change in the calendar next year and players have already been informed about it.
Let us take a look at some of the reactions from fans on social media.
“Hey @CasperRuud98, thanks for this. Was planning a trip to Los Cabos this year, but if this is true, I may wait and make it a 2-week vacation next year and do both”, wrote an excited fan.
“Cabo! I’ve never been. What a great excuse to go”, joked another fan.
“He just said “now you know” and left the scene like nothing happened”, read a tweet.
“TY caspa for spilling! Los Cabos & Acapulco possibly back to back next year, yay what a brilliant idea. Let’s go for it”, tweeted another fan.
Another fan wrote: “Tom Holland tennis version.”
