Toni Nadal Career
Toni Nadal is one of the evergreen coaches in the professional Tennis circuit. He is well-known as the uncle of Rafael Nadal and has a stellar record as his nephew’s coach, working together for close to three decades. Toni is currently the coach of Canadian star Felix Auger-Aliassime – a role he has been performing since 2021.
Toni has been associated with Rafael Nadal from the latter’s early childhood. As per official records, Toni has been his nephew’s personal coach since 1990. He was associated with the ‘King of Clay’ for more than 27 years before officially parting ways in 2017. As a professional coach, Toni held the record of winning the most number of Grand Slam titles as a coach (16) until February 2, 2020, when Marián Vajda and Novak Djokovic won their 17th Grand Slam title together in the Australian Open.
Some of his major achievements as the coach of Rafael Nadal include: Career Golden Slam, 10 French Open titles, 3 US Open titles, 2 Wimbledon titles, an Olympic gold medal, 4 Davis Cup titles and 30 ATP Masters 1000 titles. Since parting ways with Rafael in 2017, Toni waited for four years before assuming his next project as a professional coach – which happens to be his current one with Felix Auger-Aliassime. However, Toni does not travel with Felix at all events as he has to manage the responsibilities as the Director of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar.
