Toni spent the majority of his coaching career with his nephew Nadal until the duo split paths in 2017
Toni Nadal, uncle and former coach of Rafael Nadal, said that his nephew still had three or four years of tennis left in him.
However, he quickly added that he could continue to do so as long as injuries did not disrupt his career. According to the Spaniard, Nadal’s motivation and conviction to keep on winning helped him prolong his career.
“He can have three or four easy years of tennis as long as the injuries respect him, he feels motivated and the conviction to keep on winning,” said Toni during an interview with Radio Villa Trinidad in Argentina.
“I can’t imagine Rafael playing to play on the circuit and that it doesn’t matter to him to lose. Federer continues to play his age (38) because he knows he can still win important titles.”
Toni, who spent the majority of his coaching career with Nadal is currently engaged with projects for the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain.
“He is the best athlete in history”
Meanwhile, according to Toni Nadal Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi is the best athlete in history.
Toni believes that he has not seen anyone do what Messi does and revealed that his children are the Argentine’s fans.
“In the case of Messi, I have not seen anyone do what he does. My children are fans and they always pass me videos. He is the best athlete in history,” he opined.
The 59-year-old also said that the young people in recent times lacked commitment and they only played well they were good.
Meanwhile, Federer, Nadal and Novak Djokovic played bad even when they were not in the best of forms – something which separated from the rest of the players.
