Richard Gasquet notched up his 600th ATP tour win with a hard-fought victory against Stefanos Tsitsipas

Richard Gasquet registered an impressive victory against top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round of the Stuttgart Open. The veteran French player showed immense determination and grit to win 7-6, 6-2, 7-5 in three sets.

The victory was indeed special for multiple reasons as it was also the 600th win of the Frenchman’s ATP tour career. Only 28 players have hit the 600 mark in the history of the ATP Tour and Gasquet has become the first Frenchman to join the club.

Gasquet was understandably delighted with the victory. “I wanted it a lot. It took five years to reach it. It’s a lot”, said the Frenchman after his victory.

Meanwhile, Tsitsipas was on the receiving end both on the court and on social media. Trolls didn’t leave the opportunity to take a dig at him especially after his recent relationship with Paula Badosa was revealed. Let us take a look at some of the reactions.

Richard Gasquet continues to be the flag bearer of French Tennis

Richard Gasquet is flying the French flag high at the international stage even at the age of 37. His 600th career win ranks him fourth among the active players.

The Frenchman is currently ranked World No. 44 in men’s singles. He has had a career to remember, establishing a legacy of his own in the sport. Gasquet has won 19 ATP titles till date along with a Grand Slam title in Mixed Doubles besides registering more than 800 match wins in various categories on the professional tour – quite a stellar career.

Gasquet is an all-time icon of French Tennis. He was ranked as high as No.7 in singles in the ATP World rankings. He is a 1-time Grand Slam Champion, having won the Mixed doubles event at the 2004 French Open. He has won 16 singles titles on the ATP Tour – seventh most among active players. He will always be remembered for his elegant groundstrokes and one-handed backhand.
