Carlos Alcaraz suffered a shock exit from the Monte Carlo Masters after losing 6-7, 7-6, 3-6 against Sebastian Korda
Sebastian Korda has caused a major upset in the 2022 Monte Carlo Masters. The American has defeated outright favorite Carlos Alcaraz in their Round of 32 matches. Carlos Alcaraz went into the match seeded eighth and was expected to win easily. Korda however had other plans and put up a stellar show to stun the superior seed.
The 21-year-old is presently placed 41st in the ATP rankings and is unseeded in the tournament. He faced an uphill task against the in-form World No.11 Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz came into the tournament with the added confidence of winning the recently concluded Miami Masters ATP 1000 tournament.
Korda fought hard right from the start of the match, doing his best to hold his serves. He eventually won the first set in the tie breaker. Alcaraz showed his class and displayed nerves of steel to win the tie breaker in the second set. In the deciding third set, Korda managed to break Alcaraz early. He suffered no further hiccups to complete an incredible victory.

Twitter fans and followers are divided over the result of Carlos Alcaraz and Korda’s Round of 32 match at the Monte Carlo Masters. While some fans believe Carlos Alcaraz was the outright favourite and his loss is a major upset, others feel Sebastian Korda is good enough to beat anyone on his day.
“UPSET? He was very close to beating Nadal in Indian Wells. He is one of the very best upcoming tennis stars. For betting guys it was an upset, maybe“, tweeted a fan who clearly rates Korda very highly.
Another fan was really impressed with Korda’s performance on the day. “Korda is a great player! Let’s not forget how he almost beat Nadal in IW. He’s also young and needs experience how to deal with pressure during crucial points. Great performance today!”, she wrote.
“Korda hits the ball so solid. And like Roger, his movement is fluid and has a calmness to it, even during big efforts. He has much great tennis to play in coming years“, tweeted a fan who is evidently impressed with Korda’s display of tennis and style of play.
